Scott Scheuerle is taking on a new challenge, with a focus on SMB, which is his next step in a successful career path to Account Executive. Most recently he bridged the gap between sales and marketing as a senior Marketing Development Representative (MDR). As the first line of contact for our “inbound” business prospects (aka companies that reach out to Reciprocity for more information), he acted as a marketing concierge whose focus was on the “prospective customer” service.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Scott earned a double major in Marketing and Film from Saint Joseph’s University. He got his start as a professional marketer at SAP Innovation Lab’s California-based HanaHaus.
“I enjoyed being part of the digital marketing team, which was made up of only 6 or 7 people… Because we were a small team within a large organization, we had a lot to do, without a lot of resources. But it was great because everyone pitched in, regardless of their job role.”
Ready for his next challenge – and realizing how much he enjoyed the agility of working within a startup culture – Scott joined Reciprocity as a Sales Development Representative (SDR). In this role, he became an inside sales representative for the company, spending his time reaching out to “outbound” business prospects (aka companies that haven’t yet contacted Reciprocity) and qualifying them as prospective customers, before handing them off to sales executives to close the deal.
While Scott enjoyed his first Sales role, and loved working for Reciprocity, he missed Philadelphia. So, when the pandemic hit, he decided to leave Reciprocity and the Bay Area and move home to be closer to his friends and family.
“Philly is a great city, with a lot of places to eat and things to do, not to mention the sports – I’m a big Eagles fan! Plus, my family has a place on the Jersey Shore, so I get to spend a lot of time at the beach, which is one of my favorite things to do.”
COVID-19 brought significant changes to all companies, with many – including Reciprocity – making the decision to transition to a remote workforce model that would keep its employees safe while enabling it to continue its business growth. And as the company knows the value of great employees (like Scott!), it reached out to see if he would consider coming back, albeit in a new marketing-focused role. And obviously, Scott said yes.
“The only reason I left Reciprocity was because I wanted to move back to Philadelphia, and I didn’t think working remote would be an option. Now that it is, I’m really enjoying being back. I got to work with an amazing team of MDRs, which was a great experience, and I can’t wait to see what comes next in my new role.”
The Next Challenge
Reciprocity continues to grow at an exponential rate, which is creating new career opportunities for people like Scott, who are always ready for the next challenge. In his new role, he is forging new ground for the company as he takes on working with channel partners focused on the SMB market.
